About PayKore
We believe every Nigerian product deserves embedded finance.
Right now, building financial features into a Nigerian product means months of work before you ship a single line of product code. You need a banking partner, a legal team to negotiate agreements, a compliance officer to interpret CBN guidelines, and engineers to build a ledger system from scratch — all before a single user can send ₦100.
PayKore removes that burden. We negotiated the MFB partnership, built the double-entry ledger, wired up NIP and USSD, and handled the CBN compliance — once. Now you inherit all of it through a single API key. Your first wallet creation call takes minutes, not months.
We built this because we lived the alternative. The infrastructure exists. We just made it accessible.
The licence question, answered.
The most common question we get from Nigerian founders is: “Do I need a CBN licence to use this?” No — and here's exactly why.
PayKore is a technology company, not a financial institution. Your users' funds are held by a CBN-licensed Microfinance Bank partner. This structure — where a technology layer sits on top of a licensed bank — is the same model used by hundreds of Nigerian fintechs and is fully recognised and compliant under CBN guidelines.
The MFB holds the licence, holds the funds, and is regulated by CBN. PayKore provides the API, the ledger, and the developer experience. You provide the product. The regulatory burden lives where it should — with the regulated institution — and you can focus entirely on building.
Before going live, you'll complete our KYB process (CAC registration, director verification, agreement). That's it. No CBN meetings. No licence applications.
What we stand for
Transparency
We publish our full fee structure — every percentage, every cap, every exception. No hidden costs. No surprises on your invoice. If you can't calculate your costs from our docs, that's our failure.
Reliability
Double-entry ledger. Daily reconciliation against our MFB partner. 99.9% API uptime target. Every kobo is accounted for. We treat your users' money with the same seriousness a bank does — because legally, it's held by one.
Nigeria-first
Built for Naira. Built for NIP. Built for USSD. We didn't take a global payments API and add a Nigeria adapter. We designed for Nigerian banking rails from day one — NUBAN accounts, CBN wallet tiers, NDPR compliance, kobo-precision arithmetic.
